31 Characteristics of an Innovative Marketplace Christian

An Innovative Marketplace Christian is a Christian who:
- Is called to fulfill God's plan primarily in the marketplace as opposed to full-time church ministry or other spheres.
- Finds exceptional, unconventional, inspired and creative ways to deliver value through their business efforts and executes them.
- Desires to invest their life along the professional path to advance the Kingdom of God.
- Does not use their marketplace calling as a cloak for greed, selfish ambition or improper prioritizing of personal comfort.
- Is a diligent worker with high moral standards that always gives their best.
- Takes seriously the commitment to be a functional part of a local church.
- Seeks to be completely aligned with God's calling.
- Carries with them their spirituality at all times, not just when others may see it; they lead an integrated life; a life of integrity; meaning - complete, sound and whole.
- Maintains accountability through relationships in such a way as they can be corrected or redirected by the wise counsel of others.
- Creates exceptional value; someone who produces things; productive.
- Is a giver who strives to be unselfish and uses their success as a witness of God's faithfulness to His promises and an opportunity to bless others.
- Manages their own household well.
- Is sought after for their wise counsel since they have developed the ability to receive God's strategic direction.
- Is comfortable enough with their calling that they are not fazed by being considered 'less spiritual' by others, even if they are not; so long as they fulfill God's plan.
- Is not afraid to take bold actions as required by a given situation and by the Lord.
- Is a person who walks in the favor of the Lord and whatever they set their hand to prospers.
- Is willing to challenge status quo when it limits the right outcomes.
- Is willing to accept the greater responsibility that comes with increasing levels of influence in the marketplace and steward it toward the fulfillment of Kingdom-oriented objectives.
- Uses their Bible as a guide to how they desire to walk on a daily basis as well as for key business dealings, continually cultivating their relationship with God.
- Gives ongoing focus to prayer in pursuit of the release of God's will and fellowship with Him.
- Learns from mistakes, admits them and continues to move forward.
- Does not react improperly and responds carefully when business dealings do not seem to go their way.
- Continually works to improve themselves and increase the value of their contribution, not settling to operate below their potential.
- Is strong enough to say 'no' to others when they truly believe that is the best answer.
- Is willing to sacrifice as the Lord requires.
- Is a difference maker, a catalyst, who has a right and respectful attitude.
- Aggressively stands on the promises of God, releasing faith, optimism and encouragement, both into their situations and the lives of others around them.
- Develops skill to fulfill their calling, not passively expecting God or others to compensate for a lack of it, but acquires it through discipline and hard work.
- Takes responsibility for what and who has been entrusted to them and takes care of both well, whether or not anyone is looking over their shoulder.
- Seeks to express love & forgiveness in all business relationships.
- Is capable of leading and initiating projects but also finishes them well and completely.
