Breaking the Mold Before it Breaks You - 7 Keys for Christians Called to Business - #2 Favor

#2 The Key of FAVOR

This may strike you as funny, but if you are like me, you probably need some keys to obtaining the key of favor! :)

There is favor with God, favor with people and favor that rests upon endeavors. Jesus, not your performance, has given you access to all the favor with God that you will ever need. Believe it. But there are other kinds of favor you also need to walk in, to experience the path of increase in your life. Let’s focus on the other two.

Favor on Endeavors

There can be favor on particular endeavors by certain people that multiplies or accelerates the return versus other similar ones.

(For example, two entrepreneurs start the same type of business in the same type of circumstances. One is walking in favor and the other is not. Certainly the person and business with God’s favor will significantly outperform the other, right? Favor acts like a catalyst for growth.

Picture a plant in better soil that gets more sun and fresh water than others around it. That is like the effect that favor produces in your life. Remember Daniel and his friends who excelled ten times beyond their peers. That’s uncommon favor in action.

Favoritism

Favoritism, conversely, is something we are warned against. It is an unhealthy preference toward one particular person over another. The favor that we are talking about would be favoritism if it wasn’t available to all of us!

In terms of keys to the marketplace, we are referring primarily to the key of favor …with people and the favor that brings uncommon (or favorable) results. It is true that God is a rewarder of productivity and diligence and there are laws of sewing and reaping. However, to access favor you can even believe God above and beyond those cycles.

Favor gets things accomplished when other people say it can’t be done or general, natural circumstances would seem to prevent it. (An example would be being able to sell your home in a few days for full price despite the market being in the tank.) Favor gets one proposal, one article, one product, one person, one candidate, one company, one outreach effort, and one community, one nation, chosen over another. Favor creates a better than expected response or return on things you are involved in. You could say favor brings about a supernatural return.

Don’t go soft here. You work in the real world where people make choices.

It helps when they take an uncommon interest in your ideas, proposals, career, etc., beyond what you have earned, simply because you have found favor with them. Etc.. Suppose ten people with similar qualifications all apply for the same job. Who get’s it? Do you think one most qualified on paper or the one who finds favor with the person interviewing. Favor causes one thing or person to stand out. Favor is a potent ally.

God’s Favor in Action - check out this story…

That reminds me about the time when my wife at age 24 was applying for an assistant manager position. She had just started as an hourly employee at that store three weeks earlier, when the position for assistant manager came up. With no prior experience in that business, she thought she might apply for the position, mostly for the experience of doing so to make her more ready for the next opportunity.

Other more experienced, ‘better qualified’ employees from both within and outside the company applied. A week or two later they notified my wife that in fact she was not chosen for assistant. She was chosen for MANAGER and they moved the current manager to another store, letting my wife hire her own assistant. Favor created an opportunity even larger than the one presented and promoted someone beyond their practical qualifications. Favor can do this for you too.

Thank you for reminding me of God’s favor. I feel as though He has asked me to do things that are outside of my giftings, if you know what I mean. I just recently started blogging also. Mostly about makeup, fashion, some cooking and organizing. I plan to put more order into this plan. I am NOT a writer. Yet I believe that I should be doing this. People have encouraged me to write a book, but I feel like this a much better outlet. I can do this almost as though I was just teaching one or two, like at home. I don’t plan on sharing anything even close to faith related thoughts until I have a solid, trusting readership. Like the stealth bomber! Under the radar! Anyway, thank you for your insight. I follow your blog regularly.

What a great article. The favor of God is so amazing, and I am so thankful to have it, especially in these interesting times. It is always good to be reminded that God does care for us, and wishes to bless us abundantly.
